4th Annual ‘80s Reunion Wrapup

The 4th Annual ‘80s Brothers Get Together held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, was another great time for all the attendees. Fortunately, the high temps moderated and provided a beautiful day to enjoy Doggies Pub’s outdoor area. Yes, it still feels like the ‘Skellar.  The fun afternoon lasted late into the night, with most of us there until midnight.  The addition of live music definitely livened and enlarged the bar crowd.

The day was filled with good food, drink, laughter, and shared memories of our time at PSU.  And as always, we took time to remember and raise a glass to our brothers we’ve lost. They are not forgotten.

The man-miles award went to Pat coming from Washington DC to join the shenanigans.  The reverse man-miles award went to the Cadzows coming from their homestead in Lancaster. Hugh edged me out as the oldest brother (by a month), with Rod being the youngest brother in attendance. Again this year no pigs’ snouts or tails were kissed or harmed in the making of those awards.

I believe less money was spent downtown on PSU swag than in years past.  But we helped make up for the reduced economic impact on State College by enjoying midnight cheesesteaks at the new Campus Steaks, across from Doggies.  The steaks met with the approval of the Philly area “cheesesteak experts”.

State College and PSU continue to change with the seemingly never-ending construction of new high-rise buildings. But it still feels like home and remains our happy place.

The tradition will continue with the 5th annual get together in 2025, with an eye towards the end of July again.  We will reach out via email, social media and word of mouth to let everyone know once the date is set. Thanks to Owen for continuing to be the driving force behind the get together. And thanks to everyone who made the pilgrimage to attend.

Our undergraduate chapter continues to grow.  Thanks to all those who continue to lend the Helping Hand to keep Omega Chapter alive and thriving. It is. And WE ARE…..
