Message from Theta Chi’s National President about Omega’s Fall Gala
Dear Omega Chapter Brothers and Supporters:
Please allow me to introduce myself. My name is Richard Elder, and I am the National President of Theta Chi Fraternity. It is with great pleasure that I am being given this opportunity to write to each of you and share my best wishes and congratulations.
On February 25, 1919, as The League of Nations was being established by treaty in Paris, marking the end of World War I, another remarkable event was also well underway – the installation of the last of the single Greek Letter Chapters of Theta Chi, founding the Omega Chapter at The Pennsylvania State College.
It truly is amazing and worthy of serious contemplation, that Omega Chapter has been a stable, renowned, and contributing member of the Penn State Community for nearly 95 years, bringing young, aspiring men together to “Extend the Helping Hand”, while establishing lifelong relationships and improving the university experience for well over 1,500 fellow Omega brothers.
Omega Chapter has also represented the National Fraternity Leadership at the highest level throughout its history both through volunteers and professional staff including former members of the Grand Chapter, the Foundation Board, the Norwich Housing Corporation Board and the International Headquarters.
My sincerest congratulations to all Omega brothers, for what is an important milestone, as you come together to celebrate Theta Chi and Penn State – “A Century in the Making” this coming October. You all have much to be proud of and I am very excited to hear that you are celebrating this milestone in such a grand fashion, hosting your event at Penn State’s name sake resort – The Nittany Lion Inn, with a keynote address from well-known Penn State University Trustee, Mr. Anthony Lubrano.
I also want you all to know that I understand how hard the recent past has been, for both the Omega Chapter and the Penn State University community, but I remain completely confident in the strength of the Omega Alumni and Undergraduate organizations, and certainly impressed with the resolve of Penn State University overall to overcome challenges and build for future generations of America’s leaders.
Please accept my congratulations and my best wishes for a successful “Theta Chi for Life” Capital Campaign, and enjoy the celebration the weekend of October 19th. “It is a Great Time to be a Theta Chi....America’s BEST Fraternity.”
Warm Fraternal Regards,
Richard D. Elder (Gamma Theta/San Diego State 1971)
National President
