We have been honored to call this man our Brother. The condolences of Theta Chi’s extended worldwide family are offered to the family and friends of our deceased brother.
It is with great sadness that we report the passing of:
William Joseph Mohan, Jr. ‘91 - Dec. 20, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of William Joseph Mohan, Jr., a beloved Husband, Son, Brother, Uncle, Brother-in-law and friend, who left us on Dec 20, 2024, at the age of 55. At the time of his passing, he was surrounded by close friends and family.
He is survived by his parents June (Hughes) Mohan and Dr. William Mohan Sr; his wife Kara (Battaglino) Mohan; his sister- in-law Sinead Devlin-Mohan; brothers -in -law John Battaglino and Paul Battaglino (Tammy); sister- in- law Beth (Battaglino) and Joseph Cahill, Kathleen (Battaglino) and Sam Salamida, Kristine Battaglino; and seven very special nieces, nephews and many cousins. Bill was predeceased by his brother Timothy Mohan.
Bill was a dedicated professional, serving as the Assistant Vice President of Software Engineering at MetLife and Farmers, where he made lasting contributions to his field. Committed to doing more than what was expected, Bill modeled relentless focus as he guided and supported his teams’ efforts. He was a great leader in his profession and truly respected by the teams he oversaw. He had the capability of injecting humor in the day to day to alleviate stress. Above all he built life-long friendships.
He was extremely gifted at only seeing the positives in others, building people up, making them feel heard and that they were the most important person in the room. He gave of himself to make everyone around him better. Ever the optimist, Bill never saw life with limitations; only challenges, with feats to accomplish.
Raised in the Abington Heights School District, Bill went on to graduate from Pennsylvania State University, later attending Villanova Law School. His commitment to education and lifelong learning was evident in all aspects of his life. Remaining actively involved with his Penn State Theta Chi fraternity, fostering connections and continuing to donate to many of their programs.
Travel was a significant part of Bill’s life, with memorable trips to Ireland, Hawaii, Cape Cod and yearly trips to the Jersey Shore.
Bill’s heart was especially full when he spent time with family and friends. He cherished his Friday evening happy hours with close friends, where laughter was a constant. Whether playing chess, engaging in strategic battles of Risk, enjoying fiercely competitive games of bocce, pinochle, or making strategic trades (that routinely profited him) throughout football season; he always pulled people together and created lasting bonds and memories that we will treasure forever.
He will be remembered for his zest for life, his love for his family, his love for his wonderful friendships and his unwavering spirit. He touched the lives of many and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to two very special caregivers Tamika Johnson and Clara Ramos, as they were sent as special angels to watch over him. As well as Allied Hospice’s Heather, Chris, Dawn, Cheryl and MJ whose compassionate care and support made a profound difference during this time.
A celebration of life will be held by his family at Constantino’s February 22nd. Billymo loved a good party,so he will definitely be there in spirit. The price of admission will be a great story and the wearing of a favorite team hat/ tee or jersey. We hope that, in the time from now until then, you cheers Bill by going for a drink with a close friend and root for the Eagles in upcoming games and look to next season for the Nittany Lions to dominate.
In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count, it’s the life in your years. ~ Abraham Lincoln
