James Stalder '62 - Awarded National's Distinguished Achievement Award
The Distinguished Achievement Award recognizes alumni for extraordinary accomplishments outside of the Fraternity, which may include success in business, government, academia, athletics, entertainment, the community, and/or any other appropriate field.
James Stalder ‘62 is the 92nd recipient of the Theta Chi’s Distinguished Achievement Award.
Following graduation, Jim Stalder acquired 38 years of experience providing tax consulting, valuation, and financial planning services for corporate and individual clients in a variety of industries at the Pittsburgh office of PricewaterhouseCoopers where he later became managing partner. He then served as dean of the graduate and undergraduate schools of business at Duquesne University (2000-2005) and as a member of the board of directors for Koppers, Inc. (2006-2013). He has also served as a member of the advisory board of Commonwealth Capital Group, a director for C-COR Inc., as chairman at the Greater Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce, and as chairman of St. Clair Hospital.
Brother Stalder is a certified public accountant with membership in the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PI CPA). He is a member of the AI CPA Council and a past president and member of the council of PI CPA.
Brother Stalder is a life member of Carnegie Mellon University's board of trustees and served for 20 years as an adjunct professor in its business school. He has also served as a member of the board of directors for Penn State's Smeal Alumni Society and received the 2008/2009 Accounting Department Distinguished Alumni Award.
