PSU's Dr. Baker Theta Chi Gala Message
Dear Alumni of Theta Chi Fraternity, Omega Chapter,
The Pennsylvania State fraternity and sorority community is the largest fraternity and sorority community in the United States and consists of a diverse group of men and women in 89 recognized organizations. Social fraternities and sororities at Penn State are committed to the basic principles of membership that includeacademic achievement, service and philanthropy, leadership, brotherhood and sisterhood, and alumni involvement.
Please allow me to both congratulate the members of Theta Chi Fraternity, Omega Chapter for nearly a century of working with The Pennsylvania State University to support these principles and also to welcome you back to University Park and the Nittany Lion Inn for your Gala event celebrating “Theta Chi and Penn State – A Century in the Making”.
The staff of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life recognizes the long-standing tradition of excellence with many prominent and successful alumni who have earned leadership roles in their chosen professions, their communities and in volunteer service to The Pennsylvania State University. I am grateful that you have been willing to commit your time and resources to support the current members of the Theta Chi Fraternity, to strengthen the Omega Chapter, and to insure its future success.
There is evidence that a thriving fraternity community has great potential to enhance the quality of the student learning experience, to build strong ties with their future alumni, and to prepare our students for active citizenship and effective leadership. A few short years ago, the University initiated a very ambitious campaign to re-engage stakeholders in a collaborative effort to build a stronger and healthier fraternity and sorority community at the University. Theta Chi Fraternity has been an active participant in that effort.
October at University Park is truly a special time, the fall season is well underway, the students are excited and extremely active, and the entire community comes alive, you will, undoubtedly, enjoy the weekend, the surroundings, but most of all, reconnecting with lifelong relationships. I look forward to joining on the evening of October 19th, and thank you for your very kind invitation.
You all have supported a world-class University and Fraternity; therefore, I truly thank you. Once again, congratulations on behalf of the Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life, Union and Student Activities, and Student Affairs!
Fraternally,
Roy W. Baker, Ed.D.
