Daily Collegian - Homecoming event winners awarded (3rd Place)
The winners of the fraternity float, independent banner and other homecoming competitions were announced at the 1988 Homecoming Awards Ceremony on Sunday in the HUB Ballroom, said Kristi Payne, chairwoman of the homecoming competition and judging.
The independent banners were judged by the homecoming court on Oct. 5 at the bonfire. A panel of seven judges reviewed the floats on the basis of quality of construction, originality, and creativity, both before and during the homecoming parade.
The judges panel -- consisting of the former presidents of the Interfraternity and Panhellenic councils, University faculty and community members -- also reviewed the Greek banners and mad hatters at the judging area on the corner of South Allen Street and College Avenue.
