Omega Chapter News
Twenty-three active brothers returned to productive atmosphere here Omega. We at have a pledge class of thirteen, one of the largest of all fifty-one fraternities here at Penn State, and an increasingly active little sister program. At present the house is filled to capacity, and the existing positive air has inspired many renovations to the house
Under the supervision of Brother Gerald Kistler, the pledge class installed new steps at the side of the house, working long hours under adverse weather conditons. Interior improvements include the
upholstering of the living room furniture, and a piano, a new addition to the house. The entire first floor has been painted within the last year, and the majority of the rooms have been painted within the last two years
We have also excelled in intramural sports, with a 6-2 record in football and a semifinal spot in tennis. In addition, we are currently undefeated in volleyball. The highlight of fall term was Homecoming. Alumni attendance was excellent.
Chapman Library Nears Completion
When the Fraternity's operations moved from the old Broad Street Bank Building in 1971 to the converted residence on Riverside Avenue in Trenton, New Jersey which now serves as our headquarters, a decision was made to convert the living room and sun porch into a reception and historical display area. The project was termed the George W. Chapman Memorial Library honoring George’s twenty years of leadership for Theta Chi as our Executive Director. Individual and chapter gifts were solicited for the project.
A portrait of Brother Chapman was commissioned to well-known local artist Peggy Gummere and hangs on the north all of the room. A total of five display cases and three display tables will house items of historical significance to the fraternity, including the original minutes, Ritual, and Founder's Badge. A book is being prepared to acknowledge Theta Chi's gratitude to the participants in the project and will have a prominent place in the library.
Dedication of the rooms is scheduled in conjunction with the Grand Chapter meeting in the Spring of 1979.
