President’s Message

This is the season of the year when we think first of our graduating seniors, who leave the ranks of undergraduate Theta Chis and become alumni. We wish you well in what. ever field of endeavor you hove chosen. You now make that transition from the “active" chapter to the alumni rolls, and we hope that it will be from on active undergraduate to an active alumnus. If I may corrupt its intent, we hope thot there will be “no graduation day farewells." Alumni interest is much of the backbone of a chapter, and usually makes the difference between a good and a mediocre chapter. I urge you to stay on active Theta Chi.

In looking over the post academic year, one finds it has been a busy and on active one that began with a very successful convention in Seattle. As a part of the success of this year appreciation to post National President Earl D. Rhodes for his distinguished service as president of the National Interfraternity Conference and to post National President Sherwood Blue for his continued service as chairman of the Edgewater Conference, both of whom by this service hove added much to the prestige of Theta Chi.

We have gained two fine new chapters in Missouri, our first venture into this state: Epsilon Phi at Central Missouri State and Epsilon Chi of Missouri School of Mines, both excellent additions to our family of chapters. On the other side of the ledger, through sheer folly, we have lost a fine strong chapter in the East: we regret this loss more than words con record.

It has perhaps been a better than average year. We've solved some problems, and found some new ones, but this is to be expected, and this is one reason we would encourage the graduating seniors to become active alumni. Theta Chi Fraternity needs your experience. needs your loyalty, needs your know-how—needs you.

Fraternally yours,

Howard R. Alter, Jr.
National President
